Job Purpose:
The job holder is responsible for developing all Design Management’s activities, ensuring the highest design and functional guidelines are developed, applied, built, installed, and maintained in every project for the life of the project and stakeholders’ needs are accurately reflected in project designs.

Key Functional Accountabilities:

  • Participating in the development of all WTTCO’s engineering design activities, covering civil, mechanical, electrical, process & hydraulic, ICT, and architecture for all project types in order to develop a clear “design vision” for each project.
  • Ensure that stakeholder requirements are clearly captured and understood so that the design and final projects provide assets that meet the functional requirements of key stakeholders and end-users.
  • Develop the design schedule and initial cost plan for chosen design and accordingly update project master planning.
  • Define design specifications, including schedules of components and materials standards requirements.
  • Update of design based on value engineering assessment and adjust cost plan accordingly.
  • Ensure reviewing requests to modify designs, analyze change requests and formulate recommendations.
  • Ensure fine tuning, articulate, and communicate the “design vision” to the internal & external stakeholders, designers, and consultants, and facilitate the development of a clear “design brief” which effectively conveys the design objectives aesthetically and functionally.
  • Stay aware of new design trends and developments in the design in the water sector, evaluating trends and staying up to date with the latest design developments globally.
  • Ensure aligning the design with emerging WTTCO standards for each project and create procedures to ensure all projects follow the design philosophy and direction throughout.
  • Develop tender documents and ensure the developed RFPs meet WTTCO’s standards and are in compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
  • Participate in the process of development of RFPs in coordination with the concerned business unit.
  • Participate in the bid evaluation process in coordination with the concerned business unit to ensure it meets business needs and requirements.
  • Ensure coordination with concerned business units to secure required permits.
  • Build WTTCO’s capabilities to provide EPM design services to external entities in line with WTTCO’s future strategic directions.
